Offsite Backup
A private backup and recovery tool for project maintenance.
This tool is used by the maintainer to store and recover encrypted MathAnalysisAI backups in Google Drive. It is separate from the online mathematics learning application.
Purpose
What the tool does
Backups may include the MathAnalysisAI SQL Server database, uploaded business files, and information needed for disaster recovery. Restic encrypts backup data locally before upload. rclone connects the backup process to Google Drive.
The tool does not offer public Google Drive file management, sharing, or upload services. Ordinary students do not authorize their own Google Drive accounts for MathAnalysisAI.
Google Drive is used only by the maintainer for backup storage and recovery operations. The OAuth scope is drive.file; it is not a promise that Google access is restricted to one folder.
Operational status
Configuration matters
The backup system has been tested with encrypted uploads and isolated recovery. At the time this information was prepared, scheduled backup and retention timers were still disabled while durable OAuth setup was being completed. Check the current operations status before relying on scheduled backups.
Maintainers must keep the Restic recovery password separately and securely. Loss of that password can make encrypted backups unrecoverable.
